Sixfold together with Transporeon will continue to push ahead and execute a strategic expansion plan to deliver real-time visibility around the world and provide end-to-end visibility for our customers wherever their operations are located. Edward Moran, Managing Director at Transporeon Americas gave a brief overview of current developments and trends happening in the US market.
Real-time visibility is must-have in the US market
Real-time visibility has transitioned over the past few years from a nice-to-have to a must-have in the US market. As more consumers in the B2C markets become accustomed to getting real-time insights into the status of their items, freight managers in the B2B world are being held accountable by their internal and external stakeholders to be able to provide the same level of clarity. Added to that, ongoing globalization has led to supply chains that are more fragile and susceptible to largely unpredictable shock factors in international freight. Having visibility to shipment level tracking and ETA status updates allows shippers to react and adapt accordingly.
Logistics efficiency: a key factor in the organization
On the domestic front, labor scarcity makes it imperative that efficiency at the docks is paramount, and once again by having a real-time view to potential arrival times, shippers can more effectively adjust their dock operations in real-time – for example by adjusting the loading and unloading order of shipments on the fly.
Road to carbon-neutral
As the North American market becomes more interested in sustainability and the topic of carbon-emission implications of the freight industry, there are ways that real-time visibility data can be used to measure emissions, and allow shippers to adapt their shipping patterns to get closer to carbon-neutral to whatever degree possible.
Achieving complete multimodal efficiency
Between shippers & retailers and carriers & forwarders, there has been a proliferation of tools to help plan and monitor transports. This in turn creates a huge blind spot when it comes to visibility between stakeholders. In particular, there can be a significant shortfall in coverage when moving between modes. After welcoming SupplyStack to the Transporeon family there is a single solution for all parties to manage and track transports over multiple modes, and integration with Transporeon helps unlock further benefits. For road transports, shippers can now execute spot tenders through the Sixfold carrier network. Once these transports have been assigned, they can also be tracked in real-time through Sixfold. For ocean legs, an integration with Logit One (also welcomed to the Transporeon family) allows for the same ability to track in real-time and so react to delays as they happen, meaning total visibility across pre-, main and on-carriage shipping.
